The Story Behind CiteCompass
CiteCompass was born from two years of real-world experimentation at the intersection of AI Search, B2B buyer behaviour and commercial demand generation.
Two years ago, as the founder of Digital Pivot, I began exploring how AI was starting to reshape the way buyers discovered, compared and selected professional services providers. It quickly became clear that something fundamental was changing. Buyers were no longer relying only on Google rankings, referrals, websites or sales conversations. They were beginning to ask AI platforms to explain their problems, compare providers, validate options and recommend the organisations they should trust.
At first, this was an experiment. Digital Pivot began testing how professional services firms could optimise their marketing assets so they were not just visible in traditional search, but discoverable, cited and recommended inside AI-generated answers. Over the next two years, that experimentation became a proven professional services methodology. We successfully monetised this work through consulting engagements, helping organisations improve how their expertise, offers and market positioning appeared across AI Search experiences.
The commercial results were significant. We saw multiple examples where new opportunities and material deals were created through AI Search visibility, including customers engaging with providers where no previous relationship existed. These were not theoretical marketing outcomes. They were live examples of AI Search influencing real buyer behaviour and creating demand.
That was the point where we realised we had something special.
The methodology Digital Pivot had developed was no longer just a consulting approach. It was repeatable. It was measurable. It could diagnose where organisations were invisible across the customer buying journey, identify why competitors were being cited ahead of them, and show what needed to change to improve authority, visibility and demand generation.
CiteCompass was created to systemise that proven IP into a dedicated platform.
Today, CiteCompass brings that methodology to enterprise organisations as a premium AI Visibility Suite. It helps leaders understand where their brand is appearing, where it is missing, why AI platforms are choosing certain sources and competitors, and what actions will improve their authority across the buyer journey.
Our purpose is simple: to help organisations move from being hidden in the digital attic to becoming the cited authority in AI-generated buyer conversations.
At CiteCompass, we recognize that the fundamental rules of digital discovery have been rewritten. We are currently navigating “The Visibility Paradox” – a structural market shift where traditional search rankings remain stable, yet inbound traffic and click-through rates are silently evaporating.
In a world where 60% of searches end without a single click and AI models synthesise answers directly for the user, simply “ranking” is no longer the goal. If your brand is not being cited as the trusted source within those AI answers, you are effectively invisible to the 71% of B2B buyers who complete up to 80% of their journey independently.
Our Mission: From Clicks to Citations
CiteCompass was founded to transition organisations from a “click-based” economy to an “influence-based” economy. We aren’t just another SEO tool; we are an AI Visibility Suite engineered to ensure your brand is the default authority that AI models, like Google AI Search, ChatGPT, Perplexity and others – trust and recommend.
Why CiteCompass is Different :

The GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation) market is crowded with legacy adaptors and automated content “rigs.” CiteCompass stands apart by offering a strategic diagnostic depth that competitors cannot match:
- Understand Your Competition with Forensic level Insights – Our unique CiteCompass Authority Map™ enables you to see your AI Visibility performance relative to your competitors, what is driving this and your direction of travel. This enables you to tactically plan your next content Initiative to achieve the voice of authority across the customer buying journey for your product or service. Quickly measure and report on the impact of your interventions with CiteCompass Authority Map™.
- Forensic GEO across the Customer Buying Journey vs. Brand Tracking: While direct enterprise competitors focus on “Brand Tracking” through massive prompt volumes and surface-level scraping, CiteCompass delivers Forensic GEO. We don’t just tell you that you are mentioned; we provide a full-funnel diagnostic that maps your visibility across the 5 specific stages of the buyer journey: Problem, Business Case, Selection, Implementation, and Optimisation. We identify exactly where your content fumbles the baton in the “dark funnel”.
- Citations vs. Clicks: Legacy SEO suites (like Ahrefs or Semrush) are world-class at tracking website links and keyword rankings. However, CiteCompass is purpose-built to track product citations inside synthesised answers, a metric traditional tools do not cover.
- Holistic Strategy vs. Point Solutions: Mid-market execution tools often focus on single features like LinkedIn outreach or automated writing. CiteCompass provides a consolidated Visibility Score (0–100) and a prioritised recommendations for you to develop your own GEO Roadmap to move your content out of the “Digital Attic” and into the synthesised responses of major LLMs.
- Lower the cost of Hyper Personalisation: CiteCompass provides a technical and strategic framework that directly enables organisations to deliver highly targeted, stage-specific content at a significantly lower cost.
The Strategic ROI
We bridge the CMO-CFO gap by replacing vanity metrics with Authority Indicators that correlate directly with pipeline health. Early adopters using our Forensic GEO approach are seeing measurable commercial impact:
- 4.4–5x higher conversion rates from AI-sourced traffic, consistent with Semrush’s study of 500+ topics and Superprompt’s analysis of 12 million visits across 350+ businesses
- Up to 40–45% reduction in cost per lead, as AI-vetted buyers reduce reliance on paid acquisition
- 10–20% shorter sales cycles, as prospects arrive post-research and enter conversations at the evaluation stage — not discovery
- 35% higher organic CTR for cited brands
The window for establishing citation authority is currently open, but it is closing fast. CiteCompass provides the visibility and the roadmap to ensure your brand owns the narrative in your category before the landscape becomes saturated.
Analogy for Understanding: Think of Brand Tracking as a weather satellite that tells you there is a storm coming; it gives you the big picture but none of the specifics on how to survive it. CiteCompass is Forensic GEO, acting like a structural engineer with an X-ray camera. We don’t just tell you the “weather” (your general visibility); we look deep inside the “walls” of the B2B buyer journey to find the exact structural gaps where your influence is leaking, providing the precise blueprints needed to reinforce your authority so you remain the cited expert in every AI-driven conversation.
